My third Blue GSD was "Cherokee's Little Boy Blue", call name Rebel. He was a Powder Blue and a full brother to Renegade. Rebel was whelped on April 2, 2000
Sadly I lost all of my dogs to an accidental ingestion of poison on December 8, 2001
They will live on in my heart forever.
Rebel with a black and tan littermate at the breeders home. This is a great comparison shot of the difference between a Blue and traditionally colored pup. This photo was taken at 8 weeks of age.
This photo is a closer representation of his true color than the photo above. As a Powder Blue, Rebel was much lighter than a Steel Blue pup. Powders retain much of this light gray coloration throughout adulthood.
This photo is even more accurate in color representation. Powder Blues retain the blue hue to their coat longer than the Steels do as they mature. The difference between a darker Steel littermate and Rebel's Powder Blue coat is quite obvious in this photo.
Rebel finally joins our family at 10 weeks of age. Here he walks with his older brother Renegade, also a Powder Blue. On the original photo pages I had remarked how funny it was that Renegade kept trying to herd Rebel. It wasn't until looking back at the pictures years later that I realized Renegade was purposefully placing himself in between Rebel and our temporarily drained in-ground swimming pool!
Rebel explores the backyard for the first time. This photo shows his light coloration quite well.
After a long day in the car from the breeders home and exploring the backyard, Rebel lays next to my bed to take a nap.
Renegade makes the mistake of leaving the coveted spot under my computer desk and Rebel quickly claims it!
Renegade returned to find Rebel in his spot and was at first unable to get him to move. The situation was rather comical for a few moments. Finally Rebel jumped up for a second and Renegade made a bee-line for the desk. Rebel returned and asked nicely if they could share.
