Nikki is a Liver German Shepherd. Unfortunately this picture is not the best for determining actual color. Unlike most blues, Livers do not grow up to look like black and tans and are definitely easy to spot!

Nicky stands in the sunlight. Livers are just as notorious for being tough subjects to photograph. Getting an accurate color on film takes time, determination, and about 400 pictures. I'm not kidding. You should see the HUGE collection of rejected pictures I have of Renegade and Gypsy, my two Blue German Shepherds!

Here is an excellent shot of Nikki's head and muzzle. Notice the nose leather. This could almost look like a black and tan who's picture was taken and over exposured. But this in fact is a great picture depicting an accurate liver color. Not black, but varying shades of brown on tan.
