Gypsy was my second Blue GSD whelped 6/13/99. Sadly her and my other two Blues, Renegade and Rebel, all died of an accidental ingestion of poison on December 8th 2001. They will live on in my heart forever.
Gypsy at 5 weeks old and weighing in at 8.5 lbs. All pictures shown at this age were taken at the Breeders home when I went to visit the litter. Notice her blue eyes. Blue GSD's retain this blue eye color many times through 10 weeks of age. Much longer than German Shepherds of traditional coloration.
Gypsy and a Powder Blue Saddle Back Littermate. Gypsy is a Steel Blue Blanket Back. Steels and Powders can be born in the same litter. We have not yet identified the modifiers responsible for the difference in these two color variations of the Blue Gene.
A classic Gypsy look. This cocking of her head when hearing a strange noise was a big part of her personality and was an endearing trait shared by many of her close relatives.
9 weeks of age. She has just come home to start life with her new "pack". Her eyes are still a startling blue.
Renegade and Gypsy cautiously check each other out near the swimming pool. Renegade is a Powder Blue but like most Blues that are out of the "small fluffy puppy" stage, is notoriously difficult to accurately represent coat color in photographs.
10 weeks old. Her left ear is standing now. This photo does not accurately represent her color as it was captured from video tape.
Renegade and Gypsy enjoy a nap at the office after rough housing. My ex was always amazed I could get any work done with them wrestling around and bouncing off the office walls. The first command my duo learned as a pair was "Hush!" They would then obediently continue to wrestle with their "inside voices" until I was off the phone or done speaking with a customer!
