My third Blue Rebel and several of his littermates at 7 weeks old. Rebel is closest to the camera and was one of  6 Blues in a litter of 12 pups.
Three Blues with one black and tan littermate in the background. Rebel sits far left half cut out of the frame. You can see the striking difference between his Powder Blue coat color and his Steel Blue littermate in the middle. Another Powder Blue, although not as light as Rebel, sits to the far right.
One of the Blue pups. This dog was interesting because he seemed to fall smack dab inbetween Steel and Powder. We have not yet identified the modifiers or paling genes that are responsible for the differences between Powders and Steels. I would have very much have been interested in seeing this pup as an adult but the breeder moved away suddenly (she was running from a physically abusive ex-husband sadly enough) and left no contact information with anyone.
Rebel and a Black and Tan littermate.
Rebel sits behind a Steel littermate.
A comparison shot taken to show that along with varying shades of Blue, the litter also had paled Black and Tans. The pup on the far left has rich black pigment while the pup in the middle has paled black pigment and the pup on the right is a Blue. This litter of 12 had many shades of Black\Tan and Blue\Tan puppies.
"Puppy" an 8 month old Steel Blue female from a previous litter. Shown here at 8 months of age.  Puppy had those startling yellow eyes which were very common with Blue pups produced in Cherokee lines.
Tecumsah and Kacina the sire and dam of all the pups shown on this page. Also the sire and dam of my Renegade and his littermate Cheyenne.  At least two breedings of these two were very unscheduled as Tecumsah has shown himself to be quite determined upon noting that Kacina is in heat. To produce the litter Rebel was whelped in he chewed and clawed his way through a thinly paneled bedroom door to get to Kacina one day while everyone was gone from the house at school or work!!
